MONDAY

DAY: Start the week off with some in house Spanish tuition at $8 per hour, then take the metro to visit the famous Botanical Gardens for photo snapping. Afterwards drop in at the nearby science park  Parque Explorer which is just across the road. If you’re hungry ensure to grab a bite at the great restaurant as you leave the Botanical Gardens.

NIGHT: In the evening explore the local neighborhood and grab a beer at one of the number of small and friendly bars in the area.

TUESDAY

DAY: For your cultural fix, head to central Medellin and discover Medellin’s most famous artist, Botero. Check out his amazing ‘fat’ statues in the park, and afterwards spend a few hours in the interesting Museum of Antioquia. Entry fee is small, however take extra money to buy some of your own Botero prints to send home.

NIGHT: If you’re up for some salsa by night, ensure to check out Eslabon, which has live salsa music and dancing every tues night.

WEDNDESDAY

DAY: Explore the local neighborhood of Envigado. Visit the town square and outdoor market, pick up a slightly tacky souvenir or two. For lunch ensure to visit the large indoor meat, fruit and veg market, where you’ll find the best Frijole (bean) soup in Medellin. Stock up on fruit and veg for next to nothing before heading home.. all of which is a 5 min walk from the Art House.

NIGHT: Pay a visit to a music institution, Cafe La Cabana has live music every Wed night. Cram in tight into this small but cousy bar and enjoy some authentic Colombian music. Drinks are a little expensive but there is no cover, plus its only a short 3-4 min cab ride away.

THURSDAY

DAY: Take an infamous Pablo Escobar tour, visit his former houses, where he died and visit his grave. We can help you organise a professional tour guide for this, as locations are difficult to find. Prices are about …

NIGHT: Thursday night make sure you visit 3 Cordilleras, Medellin’s best boutique brewery. Their bar only opens once a week (thurs), doors open at 6pm, get in early and enjoy those beers. They have live music on occasions and its a 15-20min Taxi ride to get there.

FRIDAY

DAY: Love the outdoors? Take a short 10min, $1  bus ride from The Art House and your in the middle of lush green hills; hiking trails, forests, rivers, waterfalls and an ecological park with zip lines.  There are plenty of excellent fresh swimming holes and cascading waterfalls to explore. We have all the info and local knowledge to help you get there.

NIGHT: Parque Lleras in Poblado has the biggest and best nightlife in Medellin, with a number of bars, clubs and discos at your disposal. Dress to impress as most places have dress standards and require photo i.d. Take a $5 Taxi to get there from the Art House.

SATURDAY

DAY: Get out of the city and take a ride on the Metro Cable, which will take to high into the surrounding hills for some lovely views of Medellin. Make sure you start your day early, as It can take about an hour to get there from the Art House. Choose from a number of activities; hiking, swimming, horseback riding or jump in a foot powered water craft. There is a brand new modern library perched on the mountain to explore as well.

NIGHT: Take a 10min taxi to Carrera 70 in Suramericana, where many of the best Salsa clubs are, and represent an excellent way to take a break from the trendiness of Zona Rosa (Parque lleras) and see some real Colombian dancing.

SUNDAY

DAY: To cap off your week and for some adrenalin, take a 20-30 min Paraglide flight with the professional Parapente de Occidente. Prices start at $50USD for a 20min flight.

NIGHT: Unwind at Cafe Otraparte, just a short 5 min stroll away, enjoy a number of liquor infused cappuccinos and sweet desserts. It’s set in a tranquil home and garden environment, and draws the upper class of  the area. Make sure to try some of their imported bottled beers.

PAINTING / LEARN TO DANCE: We have a small but super friendly Art School just down the road which teaches Spanish, Painting, Dancing and Music for great prices. Great place to mingle and meet local Colombians. It’s run by the friendly Marleny and her helpful staff.

Gozarte Art School

- Every Tuesday night 1/2 Price Sushi, just a 7 min cab ride away.

- Explore the large number family run restaurants, cafes, bars and shops in the area

- For retail therapy visit the largest mall in Sth America, a short 5 min taxi ride away

- Work out in the choice of 3 Modern Gymnasiums all within a 100meter radius

- Shop at 2 Large supermarkets just down the road

- Take a peaceful walk along the river in the afternoon
